Points of Unity

- Anti-Zionism
- Montgomery County (MontCo) for Palestine is unapologetically anti-zionist and asserts that as a non-negotiable tenet of our unity. We identify the establishment of the state of "israel" as an ongoing project of settler-colonialism that can only be rectified through the complete de-colonization of all of 1948 Palestine.
- Anti-Normalization
- Montgomery County for Palestine strongly opposes any and all normalization of the settler-colonial zionist project and upholds the 2007 Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement definition of normalization.
- Montgomery County for Palestine opposes all normalization efforts whether attempted by individuals, state actors, or organizations. On an organization level we refuse all collaboration, dialogue, and coalition work with zionist organizations through a strict policy of anti-normalization.
- One State
- Montgomery County for Palestine supports the One State Solution and understands that it is the only possible end result of the Palestinian national liberation struggle.
- We understand the two-state solution to be the joint project of U.S. and zionist imperialism and does not reflect the national aspirations of the Palestinian people and actively undermines the Palestinian struggle.
- Anti-Imperialism
- We as Montgomery County for Palestine take an active position against global imperialisms and consider the Palestinian struggle to be indivisible from other struggles against imperialism. MontCo for Palestine supports national liberation not only for the Palestinian nation, but for oppressed nations everywhere including the internally colonized.
- We understand that Palestine is where the contradiction between the colonists and the colonized are highest and that the victory of the Palestinian people will pave the way for future decolonization struggles within the imperial core and around the globe.
- Right to Resist
- Montgomery County for Palestine affirms the right of the Palestinian people to resist their settler colonial occupiers through all available means including through armed struggle as articulated and reaffirmed in United Nations General Assembly Resolutions including A/RES/33/24, A/RES/3246, A/RES/33/24, A/RES/34/44, A/RES/35/35, and A/RES/36/9.
- We uphold that Palestinians in all of 1948 have the ethical and moral right to resist their own annihilation and adamantly oppose efforts to distinguish between “militant” and “civilian.” This narrative further aids in the dehumanization of Palestinians overall and Palestinian men in particular.
- Self-Determination
- As Palestine solidarity organizers living in the global north, part of our struggle includes fighting for the self determination of oppressed communities in the U.S., in addition to Palestinian self-determination.
- Right of Return
- We uphold the right of the Palestinian refugees and their descendants who were forcibly kicked out of Palestine to return to their homeland - as articulated in United Nations Resolution 194*1 – wherever it be in 1948 historic Palestine – as soon as possible, before or after the establishment of a Palestinian national state.
- Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS)
- We actively practice Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) against the settler-colonial state of “israel” until Palestinian national liberation is realized. We identify this an important tool for those outside Palestine to work for liberation, and consider it an integral part of an internationalist perspective.
*1. UN Resolution 194 states, “the [Palestinian] refugees wishing to return to their homes and live at peace with their neighbors should be permitted to do so at the earliest practicable date, and that compensation should be paid for the property of those choosing not to return and for loss of or damage to property which, under principles of international law or in equity, should be made good by the Governments or authorities responsible.”
